Rawakening

A reawakening is what this is. While ive learned from many many movies, that brinign things back from the dead generally a bad idea, scary and often results in onslaughts of monsters and epic Micheal Jackson dance videos. this is not like that. This is just the return of a simple computer blog and contrary to my favorite horror movies nothing here can go wrong.

At this point most procrastinating blogger would do a recap since there last outdated post. In this case, its been a little to long for that, so I will spare you starting from the begining and begin with this summers training.

After a relatively quiet spring months filled with the joys of full time construction work, on June 1st I got back to full time training. This is a month later than I have started trianing in the past. I was surprised to see how little shape I had lost in the extra month away from a full trianing schedule. June and July consisted of most of my training taking place based at home in Canmore. In each of the months we completed a four day Altitude block, followed by a three day Intensity block.

August came very quickly , and with it brought the infamous Haig Glacier trip. This year I was lucky enough to have Eric bailey and NTDC thunder Bay have me along with them at the camp. It was a great experience to have a week of the summer training with a new group. My sincerest thanks to Bailey for helping me out. After a week of big volume at the Haig I returned home and pumped out a week filled with intensities. By the end of the week I was exausted and started my recovery week. This one was a littel different though.

That sunday after my last intensity I drove into Calgary with my family and made the fligth out to Halifax Nova Scotia to visit, all my extended family. I spent the first four days of my trip with over 35 Garniers at my Uncles cabin at a lake an hour outside of Halifax. After that we returned to Halifax and spent three days at fmailys hosues visiting in smaller groups. This was a incredibly fun week for me and a great way to clear my head form all the stress of training for a little bit. Unfortunelty sleeping with 35 other people after supressing my immune system with three tough training weeks, was the perfect recipe for illness and I returned to home to catch a cold.

Since then I hae spent a week with a little bit of trianing getting healthy. The last two weeks consisted a mini two day altitude block with a few intensities after, and a heavy focus on strength training. This week we will finish up with some more strength and a Uphill Classic TIme trial. Then Ill take a few easy days to get ready for a big altitude block and some seriously heavy speed and interval training.

Well were now up to date. Now Ill try to get some posts done a more frequently, so that I dont have to bore you with such a long update. If I get off track, and forget to post I askign YOU the reader to smack me around alitttle and keep me on track. Thast all I ask.
